Gertrude S. Segal of East Fourth Street died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Lakeshore Lutheran Home.

She was born in Chicago and had lived in Duluth since 1941.

She was a member of Temple Israel and Duluth Chapter of Hadassah. She had been a member of the former Tifereth Israel Congregation and had served as president of its sisterhood and on various committees.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Toby Schutz; husband Harry A., in 1957; and a sister, Bernice Schutz.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth Schutz of Chicago; her stepfamily, Stan (Barbara) Segal of Duluth; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Service at 1 p.m. Friday in Temple Israel, with Rabbi Amy R. Bernstein officiating. Interment in Tifereth Israel Cemetery, Howard Gnesen Road. Memorials to Temple Israel or Donor's Choice would be appreciated. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, 925 E. Fourth St.
